Iran to Mass-Produce 30 Knowledge-Based First-Ever Health Products
“Based on coordination with the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, 30 products have been purchased for the first time in the field of health from the knowledge-based companies,” said Hossein Safavi, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of Saving Currency for Treating Patients.
“Since 10 years ago, our product portfolio was 10% of the domestic products but today it has reached 90%,” he added.
Safavi noted that 95% of the Iranian hospitals have been equipped with the home-made products, adding that no foreign product similar to the Iran-made equipment is imported from other countries.
Iranian companies have been able to produce different medical equipment in recent years and have even exported them.
During a recent visit of a high-ranking Iranian delegation to Indonesia headed by President Ebrahim Rayeesi, the officials of the two countries inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to supply medical equipment made in Iran to 12 hospitals in the biggest Muslim country.
Mohammad Moussavi, the deputy minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, made the comments during a visit to the 24th International Exhibition of Medical, Dental, Laboratory and Pharmaceutical Equipment known as Iran Health.
“Despite the significant growth of exports in 1401 (March 21, 2022- March 20, 2023), this industry (medical equipment industry) could export about $30 million worth of goods,“ the deputy industry minister said.
He said that the ministry is resolved to support the increase in production of medical equipment in order to increase exports.
“Supporting the development of the export of high quality and competitive products made in Iran to other markets is one of the main priorities of this Ministry,” Moussavi underscored further.
