Iran Oil Minister: Andimeshk Petchemical Project to Be Completed in 3 Years

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iranian oil minister said that six contracts on the development of oil and gas fields will be signed by the end of this year 1402 in the Iranian calendar (March 19, 2024).

Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji made the comments on a one-day visit to the Southwestern province of Khuzestan on Feb. 6, 2024 to inaugurate several projects.

He also said that the contracts worth $14 billion will result in an increase in production, exports, revenues, and job opportunities.

Pointing to the Ibn Sina petrochemical project in Andimeshk, Khuzestan Province, the minister said the project, which had been left undecided for 14 years, will be implemented in 36 months according to a promise made by Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) Managing Director Abdolali Ali-Askari.

According to Owji, ethylene oxide, a key product, will be among the products of Ibn Sina Petrochemical Company, highlighting that the country will no longer imports it when the project comes on stream.

The Iranian oil minister went on to say that $300 million will be invested to conduct the petrochemical project in the implementation stage.

He further pointed out that the completion of the project’s product chain is on the agenda.
