Iranian Inventor Finds New Way to Provide Fluid for Absorbing Force
Amirhesam Fatemi, who has been able to produce a unique fluid with new compounds has said, “The micro-particles introduced in our research for making this fluid absorb the impact between their own molecules unlike all solids. Imagine you are moving at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour and you hit an obstacle. If this fluid is your car's protector, it will no longer allow the transfer of impact to the passengers and will absorb eighty percent of the impact between its own molecules.
This behavior of molecules is amazing and this invention can be used in car bumpers, helmet linings, and street speed gears.
This product actually belongs to the family of non-Newtonian fluids independent of time called Dilatant which can absorb impacts to a great extent. When a strong force is applied to it, its viscosity increases. In other words, after an impact occurs, this fluid disperses the impact among its components to expel the incoming force, resulting in much less damage to vehicle passengers.
It is worth mentioning that it is not destructive and does not need replacement and returns to its original state after impact, but if used in speed gears, it shows a special reaction for each car according to its speed.
For example, if a car passes at low speed from it, the fluid acts like liquids and causes no problems with leveling with the ground so that the car can pass without any reduction in speed and continue on its path. After passing through the car, the speed gear returns to its original state. However, if a car passes at high speed from it, this fluid acts like solids and other obstacles
In fact, this fluid is neither solid nor gas nor liquid and changes shape in different states.
This product can also be used as a speed gear in road construction industry and traffic equipment by launching mass production lines and replacing old speed gears which will significantly reduce damage to front-end parts of country's cars.
Fatemi is also working on using this product's combination in making a new type of bulletproof vests which are currently in trial phase.
