Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Manufactures 3 Eco-Friendly Nano-Based Health, Chemical Products
“The product we have made in the health field by using nanotechnology is an air freshener that contains stable essential oil. The shelf life of the air freshener has been increased by using nanotechnology and the unpleasant odors disappear after its application,” Soudeh Shiri, a PhD in polymer engineering and research and development (R&D) manager of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.
She added that the air freshener persists in the air for at least three hours in warm environments, noting, “Even in some cases, the essential oil of this freshener lasts for 24 hours.”
“Another product of our company is disinfectant tablets. The essential oil of these tablets has also been stabilized with nanotechnology. When these tablets are used in the flush toilets, a pleasant odor is created in the space with each pumping of water. These tablets also have cleaning and disinfecting features,” Shiri said.
“Another product of our company is monovalent copper oxide compound which has been manufactured by using nanotechnology. The compound is known as an effective agent of anti-moss paint and is used in the shipbuilding industry,” she said.
Noting that the monovalent copper oxide can also be used as a catalyst in various petrochemical industries, Shiri said, “It can be applied as a pigment in glaze, ceramic and glass industries, as a compound semiconductor dye and pharmaceutical material in making solar cells, agricultural fungicide and seed coating, as a dye and pharmaceutical material in the dehydrogenation process, production of copper alloys like brass and bronze, a material to improve thermal conductivity in cooling systems based on oil and cooling liquids, and as base composition to prepare other monovalent copper compounds.”
Iran has made nanotechnology a priority in recent years, achieving lots of success. In January 2022, the nanotechnology research website StatNano ranked Iran as fourth in the world in nanotechnology publications.
“The number of scientific articles is deemed a significant parameter for measuring and comparing scientific development,” read the StatNano report.
