New Iran-Made Super Absorbents Adsorb Huge Amount of Water
“Our product is a super absorbent and the main material used in it is zeolite. Zeolite is a mineral that is extracted from the mines of Iran,” Mohammad Javad Kazzemzadeh, the director of Research and Development (R&D) department of Vaco Industrial Group affiliated to the Islamic Azad University’s Shiraz branch, told ANA on the sidelines of Asreh Omid Event in Tehran.
“We inject fertilizer and organic materials into the zeolite during certain processes and it turns into granules and is used in the agricultural industry,” he said, adding that the product is widely used in various industries but it is applied as a moisture absorber in agricultural areas.
“Super absorbents adsorb water 8 to 10 times more than their weight without swelling,” Kazzemzadeh said.
He noted that among other advantages of the super absorbent is that it does not cause pests, worms cannot destroy it, there is no need to plow the soil for the plant, and it keeps this performance for 8 years.
This product has been produced fully indigenously with a quality equal to the foreign counterparts and one-fifth of the foreign products’ price.
