Neighboring Countries Iran’s Major Destinations for Colorant Exports
“In these years, Afghanistan and Iraq have launched huge construction and industrial projects, and Iran is one of the main options for supplying raw materials, including paint and other necessities to those countries,” Mohammadreza Milani, a paint trader, told local Iranian media.
Milani said that a look at the export statistics of all kinds of colorants shows that despite the problems related to the sanctions, Iran’s exports witnessed an upward trend in 2021.
“The total value of the paint and coating market in the Middle East is more than 15 billion US dollars while its volume is about 6 billion liters,” he said, adding that estimates show the Middle-Easterm market will grow by more than 10% until 2025.
“About 70% of this market is related to construction and decoration. Meanwhile, Iran's total paint market is about 500,000 tons,” the businessman continued.
He went on to highlight that there is a possibility of a significant increase in Iran’s colorant exports.
“Despite the potential of paint producers, the quality of manufactured products, and the presence of favorable regional markets, the country's exports are still behind the global average. The production share of the country in this industry is about one million tons, and a large portion of this capacity has remained unused due to low domestic consumption and lack of significant exports.”
According to him, apart from Afghanistan and Iraq, as two major destinations, Turkey, Russia, UAE, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar, Oman, Azerbaijan and other neighboring countries are among the target countries for Iran colorants exports.
Emphasizing that holding exhibitions plays an important role in introducing Iran's advantages in the paint and resin industry and industrial coatings, Milani announced the holding of an exhibition in the field of paint and resin this month.
