Implementation of Micromechanical Modeling of Multilayer Sheet Rolling Process in Iran

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iranian researchers succeeded in micromechanical modeling of the multilayer sheet rolling process by using the crystal plasticity model and damage mechanics.

“Polycrystalline materials at the crystal grain scale show very different behavior from what they have at the macro scale. In recent years, the use of crystal plasticity theory has attracted the attention of researchers because by modeling the governing physical laws at the meso scale, it is also possible to extract the material properties at the macro scale,” said Mohammadreza Morovvati, a PhD student in mechanical engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology and the project manager.

“Multiscale modeling meets much of the need for laboratory operations to produce microstructures,” he added.

Morovvati explained that by using this research, it is possible to obtain a precise method for influencing the deformation parameters during the double-layer sheet rolling process, which improves the double-layer sheet rolling process.

Earlier this year, the nanocoatings produced in an Iranian knowledge-based company had replaced nitric acid, caustic soda and chromate in two aluminum factories in the country, leading to reduction in the final price of products and making them more competitive in the domestic and foreign markets.

“At present, large companies like Alumerol Novin and Aluminum Pardis have succeeded in replacing the common chromate conversion coatings with zirconium conversion nanocoatings in the aluminum industry,” said Farhang Azad, the manager of sales engineering of the knowledge-based company.

He explained that the competitive advantage of the country's aluminum industry has improved and the final price of these companies' products has decreased by using the mentioned method.

“By using the home-made nanocoatings in these two aluminum factories, nitric acid, caustic soda and chromate were omitted from their production cycle, the problem of worker safety and material toxicity in the environment has been solved and the production cycle has reduced,” Azad said.
