Yousef Amrollahi, the managing director of Borj and Barou Fars knowledge-based company told ANA correspondent on the sidelines of the 14th edition of International Nanotechnology Exhibition in Tehran that with the production capacity of 40 kg of graphene oxide per month, it is possible to meet the needs of the domestic market.

Graphene oxide (GO) is a unique material that can be viewed as a single monomolecular layer of graphite with various oxygen-containing functionalities such as epoxide, carbonyl, carboxyl, and hydroxyl groups.

“Now the produced graphene oxide is used in anti-corrosion and anti-moss paints. We also produce paints that have anti-acid properties due to the presence of graphene oxide. We have entered into negotiations with the shipping company to use these paints on the hull of the ship," Amrollahi added.

“These anti-moss paints are durable. While the normal paints last for only 6 months, these nano paints last up to two years,” he continued:

“We had hled talks with automobile companies to sell them these nano products, especially nano detergents, which will probably lead to a contract in the near future,” he added.

“The graphene oxide we produce can increase the mechanical strength of various products and even reduce the final weight of the product. It also improves their flexibility and biocompatibility," he said, adding, “This material has many applications in the pharmaceutical, dental, energy and defense industries."
