Iran's AUT Inks 15 MoUs with Iraqi Universities to Expand Scientific, Research, Industrial Cooperation

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iranian Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) signed 15 memorandums of understanding and international scientific cooperation contracts with top Iraqi universities on the sidelines of the Iran-Iraq Science Week in Mashhad, in the Northeastern part of Iran.

Alireza Rahayee, the AUT caretaker president and Rouhollah Bagherzadeh, the AUT Director of Scientific and International Cooperation Department were present in the signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding (MoUs).

“The extensive AUT scientific and research capabilities can be utilized in order to improve the scientific and research level of the universities and to lay the ground for scientific cooperation with friendly and interested countries,” Rahayee said on the sidelines of the ceremony.

“One of the main goals of the university is the development of industrial research,” the caretaker president of the AUT added.

Meanwhile, Bagherzadeh said at the ceremony that the AUT educational and research experiences in the field of practical research and carrying out industrial projects are among the most important fields of scietific cooperation with Iraqi parties.

“After conducting comprehensive studies and research on the capacities and capabilities of 24 Iraqi universities participating in the event, the international department of the university offered specialized proposals and areas of cooperation to each of these universities, and after receiving their perspectives, those MoUs were signed by the two parties,” the AUT department director added.

“We will have joint cooperation in the field of implementation of national macro-projects in accordance with the research needs of the two countries, such as environmental protection, joint natural resource management, process engineering and strengthening the infrastructure of the two countries in the exploitation of oil and gas resources and the development of downstream petrochemical industries, Bagherzadeh concluded.
