The onshore drilling rig 201 of Energy Gostar Pars exploration and drilling company succeeded in completing the drilling and carrying out reservoir tests in Darkhovin oil field of Ahvaz. The rig was installed last year and it drilled to a depth of 4,810 meters and reached oil.

Also, the onshore drilling rig 203 has been engaged in exploratory drilling operations in Cheshmeh Shour gas field since last year, and after drilling to a depth of 4,505 meters, it found gas in the position of well number 01 of this field.

The rig is currently located in the position of well number 01 of Ziyar oilfield in Golestan province and has drilled to a depth of 4,064 meters to discover gas and is currently preparing for the start of step-by-step testing operations.

Iranian oil minister had said earlier in October that three oil and one gas fields had been discovered since the 13th administration took office two years ago.

Javad Owji added the discovery of four fields has soared the country’s recoverable liquid hydrocarbons by 2.6 billion barrels.

Hirkan oil field in northeastern province of Golestan, Tengoo and Genaveh oil fields in southwestern province of Bushehr, and Cheshmeh Shour gas field in northeastern province of Khorassan Razavi are the four fields discovered in the past two years, he continued saying.

Given the latest discoveries, the reserve replacement ratio for liquid hydrocarbon is 87 percent, mentioned the minister, explaining it means if 100 barrels of crude oil and gas condensates are produced in Iran and consumed inside the country or exported to other countries, 87 barrels of that output have been replaced by newly-discovered deposits.
