Iran to Host 6th International Congress on Biomedicine in November
Based on the report, the main themes of the congress are “women and reproductive health”, “medical genetics”, “microbiology and infectious diseases”, “tissue engineering and stem cell”, “cancer (prevention-diagnosis and treatment)”, “medical biochemistry geriatric medicine”, and “vaccination and dental health”.
Other topics of the congress include “cosmetics (challenges and outlooks)”, “health and nutrition”, “medical nano-biotechnology”, “metabolism and metabolic diseases”, “personalized medicine”, “clinical psychology”, and “cognitive neuroscience”.
Moreover, “medical virology”, “pharmacy medical mycology”, “medical education”, “epidemiology health economy”, “immunology”, “physiology”, “hematology”, “medical biotechnology”, “medical informatics”, “and “social health” will be discussed.
Experts in the fields of genetics, biochemistry, biotechnology, plants and animals, biophysics, microbiology, biology, medicine, pharmacology, women, nursery, and hematology are the main target society of the congress.
Other fields related to the event include nutrition, medical genetics, clinical microbiology, clinical biochemistry, medical informatics, medical ethics, epidemiology, medical education, clinical psychology, medical physiology, cognitive, neuroscience, pharmaceutical biotechnology, as well as bioinformatics, medical engineering, and nanotechnology.
Bardia Farzanfar, a member of the board of directors of the Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Medical Biotechnology Products, said in September that some 40 percent of the country's total pharmaceutical exports are biotechnology products.
Self-sufficiency in the production of these products is unique compared to other countries in the world, he added.
Iran’s biotechnology products are exported to European, Asian, and Latin American countries, he noted.
There are more than 500 knowledge-based companies active in the field of biotechnology, and about 16 companies operate in the field of medicine.
