Islamabad Expresses Readiness for Technological Cooperation, Student Exchange Program with Tehran
Pakistani Minister of Science Mukhtar Ahmad visited Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) in Tehran and its different departments and companies, and also sat down for talks with the Iranian deputy minister of science.
In the meeting, Hassan Zamanian, Deputy Minister of Science and Head of the IROST, explained the center's plans and goals and adding, “All stages of turning an idea into an exploitable project are pursued and supported in this research institute.”
He also pointed to the existing areas of cooperation in the field of science and technology between Iran and Pakistan, saying, “Iran is ready to establish similar innovation centers in Pakistan.”
Zamanian further pointed to the Iranian-hosted International Khwarazmi Festival and said, “We always have winners and participants from Pakistan in this festival.”
Mukhtar Ahmad, for his part, expressed his satisfaction with this visit and praised the scientific progress in Iran and Tehran. “Pakistan wants to cooperate with Iran in this regard and on technology exchange, and doing this can be of maximum benefit for both countries,” he said.
“During my visit to Hamedan [in the Western part of Iran], I also saw good potentials there. We can jointly work regarding technologies related to Iran sanctions and many other areas, and we would like to do joint activities,” he added.
“Pakistan has been a high-tech country in the region for many years. It has made very useful achievements. It has shared its experiences with other countries. And it has a development and research center where it carries out scientific and technological activities, such as nanotechnology and activities in the field of robots and other effective scientific and technological measures, etc,” the Pakistani science minister further noted.
“I personally believe that scientific activity has the most special place in the world and special measures should be taken in this regard. We have to have proper communication between the ministry and the [Pakistani] parliament. In addition to scientific activity, the position of human resources and experts should also be taken into account and we should try to solve human problems with them and increase the quality of human life. In this way, science and technology can play an effective role in human society,” he explained more.
“We have no problem with the Iranian side when it comes to the exchange of professors and students and conducting joint activities,” Mukhtar Ahmad concluded.
