Iranian Scientists Use Nanotechnology to Increase Yield in Greenhouses Up to 25%

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iranian researchers in a knowledge-based company increased the capacity of greenhouse crops by 15 to 25 percent by making an efficient nanobubble generator device.

"We succeeded in acquiring the technical know-how of producing a nanobubble generator device that injects very small nanometer bubbles into water," Hamed Sotoudeh Tabaar, a graduate of mechanical engineering and the managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.

He added that the nanobubble generator is a technological product used to enrich the water used in agriculture with dissolved oxygen which boosts the level of dissolved oxygen in a nano form and strengthens the roots of plants.

Sotoudeh Tabaar referred to the applications of oxygenated water, and said, “These waters are used in various industries, including aquaculture, fish and shrimp farming, various agricultural products, greenhouses, and water and wastewater treatment.”

“We can increase productivity, capacity and production in these industries by using nanobubble technology. This technology makes production more efficient and saves energy and raw materials,” he underlined.

In a relevant development in June, another knowledge-based company in Iran had also managed to design and manufacture an ozone generator device that can be applied in smart greenhouses to increase plants’ growth and control pests.

“Our company works in the field of spectroscopic identification of different types of light with micro-spectrophotometer and mini-spectrometer devices, which work to identify color and light wavelengths,” Maryam Bahreini, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.

“This device has many uses in the laboratory sector (chemistry laboratory and materials laboratory) and research, and can also be used in smart greenhouses,” she added.

“Our device is used in areas of smart greenhouses and artificial lighting, which requires measuring the wavelength of light, because in these greenhouses we need to know the wavelengths,” Bahreini said.

“In the field of plasma, we have two products of the plasma-activated water device and the ozone production device, both of which are clearly used in agriculture,” she stated

“Plasma activated water can be utilized to irrigate plants and leads to fertilization, pest control and increase in plant growth.
