Mazen Al-Hasani, the president of Wasit University of Iraq and Ali Nasser Hilo, the dean of the engineering faculty of that Iraqi university, and an accompanying delegation visited the AUT on their visit to Tehran.

During the visit, Alireza Rahayee, the AUT caretaker president pointed to the fields of cooperation with Iraqi universities, and said, “The AUT is different from other universities in its specialized fields. We have faculties in the fields of aerospace, petroleum, textile, polymer, marine engineering, etc., which operate in a specialized manner. Specialized activities in the university allow us to have very broad, deep and specialized studies.”

“Some of the courses held at AUT have a long history. For example, for more than 40 years, we have had a PhD course in energy engineering and nuclear topics at the university,” he added.

“The professors of this university have written a lot of articles published in international journals and have been able to perform excellently in the field of industrial research. Moreover, one of the main goals of the university is the development of industrial research,” Rahayee said.

“The design and construction of medium-sized airplanes, the design of the country's national information network, the smart networks for electricity distribution and the smart networks related to intercity public transportation, the construction of hospital nuclear equipment in the country are among the instances of the research project carried out by AUT,” he went on to say.

"It is a pleasure that along with the educational cooperation we have with Iraq, we can develop the cooperation and have joint courses with the country," he went on to say.

Extending a proposal for cooperation between the AUT and Wasit University of Iraq, Rahai said, “Implementation of large-scale research projects and conducting joint research as a study opportunity can be a ground for cooperation between the two universities.”

"Considering religious similarities between the two countries, we need to prioritize cooperation with neighboring and brotherly countries such as Iraq,” the AUT caretaker president further said.
