Smart Monitoring of Greenhouses with Mobile Phones
According to a report by the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, Behzad Khanjarian, the managing director of a knowledge-based company said, “This smart product consists of a gateway (central receiver and transmitter) and a sensor that, by being installed in the greenhouse and connected to the Internet, provides the possibility of wireless communication with sensors and operators.”
Saying that the sensor of the system is for accurate measurement of all parameters related to the greenhouse, including the temperature and humidity level in the air and soil, the amount of different dioxide in the form of carbon dioxide, he added, "The cloud software of this product called ‘Calodifarm’ is a comprehensive industrial automation solution that has been developed with a focus on agriculture, and we are trying in our company to use this technology in other fields, including livestock and poultry farming.”
Khanjarian further said that they have also put the use of artificial intelligence on their agenda.
“For example, to determine the best irrigation time for each product, we determine its time using artificial intelligence,” he added.
The researcher further said that their system has advantages such as being more reasonably priced and offering after-sales services as compared to foreign counterparts.
He went on to note that because of the sanctions and the restrictions from them, they have made the whole system of smart monitoring of the greenhouses on their own as they had no other choice, turning the sanctions into an opportunity.
He concluded that the foreign companies have access to whatever they need so they need to make only the software rather than having to make the entire system.
