Iran Exports Effective Substances of Herbal Plants to Japan
“This knowledge-based group succeeded in establishing a research and development (R&D) unit to complete the scientific process of extracting effective substances from many plants. One of the company's work projects is extracting and purifying the effective substances found in the turmeric plant,” said Simin Zamanizadeh Najjar, the managing director of the knowledge-based Ariana Shimi Giah Tirazis company.
She added that the anti-inflammatory and therapeutic properties of the unique spice of turmeric have been a source of interest to humans for a long time, noting that this substance has been used as an antibacterial material in ancient Egypt and in the middle ages of the Islamic civilization.
“Its anti-inflammatory properties have been proven in modern experiments,” Zamanizadeh Najjar said.
She explained that the knowledge-based company succeeded in extracting curcumin substance from turmeric plant which is used in the production of various medicines, including the drug for bone inflammation, along with other effective substances of turmeric.
“Ariana Shimi Giah Tirazis company also produced davanone substance from plants which is used in food production and we exported it to Japan,” Zamanizadeh Najjar said.
She also described patenting materials extracted from pomegranate skin and rosemary plant as another measure adopted by her company.
Turmeric is a bright yellow aromatic powder derived from the rhizome of a plant, which is a member of the ginger family. Turmeric has long been recognized for its medicinal properties and has gained the interest of both the medical and scientific world, apart from its culinary uses.
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a spice used for cooking but has gained immense popularity as one of the most powerful herb for fighting various diseases.
