Iran-Made Machine Sorts Rice, Almonds Based on Image Processing
“The sorting machine is specially useful in sorting agricultural products; for instance, after pouring the rice grains into the machine, the waste grains are separated from the healthy ones based on their color,” said Ahmad Ali Rezayee, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
Noting that in the old systems, rice was graded based on a mechanical system, he said, “Our machine works based on a camera and image processing.”
Rezayee underlined that the machine can also be used for sorting other products besides rice, saying, “It is applied for sorting barberries, almonds and raisins too.”
In another development in June, researchers of a knowledge-based company in Iran had also succeeded in building a sorting device that separates and organizes different products based on appearance, structure, dimensions, and color by using a smart camera.
“The efficiency of the sorting machine is separating and classifying products. This machine cleans the products, sorts and categorizes the products. The name of this device is a term used to categorize different products,” Milad Houshyar, a representative of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.
He stated that the sorting machine separates the waste from the sound product to present a high-quality product to the customer, adding, “This machine separates, organizes, and cleans the products based on their appearance, structure, dimensions, and color. It works intelligently by using a smart camera.”
“The products fall from a ramp and the smart camera of the device scans the product at a very high speed while it is suspended in the air,” Houshyar said.
