Iran-Made Optical Fiber Sensors Help Border Guards
“This project was carried out with the aim of indigenizing one of the newest and most state-of-the-art technologies in the world which is the development of optical fiber sensors,” said Mohammad Hossein Maleki, the project manager of the knowledge-based company.
“In this project, we converted fiber optics into a sensor and we analyzed the data obtained from this sensor by using artificial intelligence,” he added.
Maleki stated that these fiber optic sensors have wide applications, and added, “One of the applications of this sensor is in the borders. Monitoring of energy transmission pipelines, power lines and railways can be carried out with this sensor since they are able to monitor attempts to steal and the breakdowns of trains and rails and the speed of trains.”
In a relevant development in July, engineers at a knowledge-based company in Iran produced fiber optic equipment for data transmission that can match with European counterparts.
Akram Ramzaninejad, the managing director of the Iranian knowledge-based company, said that the research field of their company is fiber optic communication equipment (cables, switches and ports).
“We started our activity in 2012 and succeeded in localizing and producing different types of fiber media converters and PoE switches,” she said.
Saying that their company obtained its knowledge-based grade by producing 8-port switches, media converters and SFPs, she added, “The 8-port network switch is used for conducting the bandwidth of the network connection to various wired network devices such as computers, all types of Wi-Fi phones, network cameras and some wireless access points,” Ramzaninejad said.
“This product is a series of fiber optic modules that are used in switches and as a kind of interface between switches and fiber optic equipment which performs data transfer and converts electrical data into optical fiber and vice versa,” she added.
“This product is an 8-port PoE switch equipment that are industrial and management series, which not only creates communication between systems and creating a single network and managing it through layer +2 protocols, it also supplies the power required by devices based on the PoE standard (IEEE802802.3af/at). In the front panel of this product, 8 Rj45 network ports with a speed of 10/100/1000Mbps and two SFP ports as uplink with a speed of 10/100/1000Mbps are installed and it also has an LED displaying the device's performance status,” Ramezaninejad said.
