Hatami participated in the 13th Greenwich International Astrophotography Competition and his artwork named ‘The Sun in the Ultraviolet Spectrum’ is going to be displayed in the Royal Museum of Greenwich soon.

“After 2021, this year (2023) I was selected for the second time in the astrophotography competition of the Royal Greenwich Observatory and won the title of astrophotographer of the year,” he said.

“In my photo, you see a flat map of the Sun's disk and sky with CMEs, which has a height greater than 100 times the diameter of our planet Earth. In the background, you can see the stars and planets of the solar system. The image gives me the feeling of aurora borealis. The image has a time dimension and the time of various events can be recognized by it,” Hatami said.

Astronomy Photographer of the Year of the Royal Museums Greenwich showcases the world's best space photography, from spectacular skyscapes to mind-blowing images of distant planets and galaxies.

Every year, photographers from across the globe compete to be part of the final exhibition and take home the prestigious title.
