“Our company is one of the companies producing cosmetic and hygienic products and it has succeeded in production of a range of creams, lotions and sunscreens by using nanotechnology,” said Mohammad Reza Shahini, the managing-director of Pars Hayan Pishtaz company.

He explained that absorbent chemicals for absorption of rays are used in sunscreens along with reflective materials, adding that nanoparticles have also been used to reflect sunlight and they have improved the quality of sunscreens.

“Among these nanoparticles, titanium and zinc oxide are among the most widely used nanoparticles in sunscreen creams,” Shahini said.

He added that nanoliposome is also used in production of toothpaste, deodorant, anti-wrinkle and anti-aging creams.

“Also, nanocarbons are used in production of cosmetics like mascara and eyeliner,” Shahini said, adding that his company exports its products to Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

Earlier this year, a technological company in Iran had also started using nanomaterials in producing anti-pathogen ointment and also creams to reduce the appearance of pimples on the body.

According to a report by Iran’s Nano Development Headquarters, Ebrahim Akbarzadeh, the managing director of a technology company and a professor of Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology (KNTU) said that his company has received a nanoscale certificate for gold, silver and iron nanoparticles, adding, “These nanomaterials are sold to various companies for use in their products.”

“In addition to the production of these nanomaterials, we tried to make products ourselves. Considering the positive effect of gold nanoparticles in production of collagen for skin rejuvenation, we have developed a formulation for the production of a cream, which is currently in the process of receiving licenses from the Food and Drug Organization,” he added.

“We also used silver nanoparticles to formulate creams with anti-pathogen properties and reducing pimples on the body,” Akhbarzadeh went on to say.
