Iran-Made Remote-Reading Water Meters Utilized in 4 Iranian Cities
“One of the products of our company is a remote-reading water meter whose pilot model was first used in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province,” Seyed Rasoul Alborzi, the managing director of a knowledge-based company which produces the water meters, told ANA.
Stressing the importance of water shortage and controlling consumption in Iran, he said that by using the platform, the customers can also see the numbers related to their consumption.
Alborzi said that the remote-reading water meters are now being used in four cities in Markazi, Yazd, East Azerbaijan and Khuzestan provinces, adding, “Several industrial towns and greenhouses are also using the product.”
In a relevant development in September, another Iranian knowledge-based company had also designed and manufactured a smart water meter to save water despite the harsh US sanctions imposed on the country’s technology sector.
“Energy saving is the main pillar of economic development and sustainability while facing the global energy crises,” Majid Mohammadi, the CEO of Iran’s Innovation and Smartization Center, told ANA.
“In line with indigenization of the products and equipment used in the country, specially in the field of water saving, the smart mechanical water meters have been produced by the Iranian researchers via using internal capacities,” he added.
“The product which enjoys remote reading capability can in the meantime show automatically volumetric consumption and costs as well as the customer’s consumption information for the past ten years. To do so, an optical port with the battery life warranty of five years has been utilized,” the official added.
Mohammadi said that the water meter is capable of warning water leakage and remotely turning on and off water from the tap, noting that the device has been manufactured under the harshest US sanctions against Iran and has been approved by the Energy Ministry of Iran.
