Salariyeh made the comments in a ceremony held in Tehran to mark the start of World Space Week.

He further pointed to the importance and role of space science and technology in improving living standards and sustainable development and said, “Urban and rural management, water resources management, as well as managing agricultural resources, mineral resources, environment, communication, new sciences and discoveries, identifying natural resources in other worlds and providing suitable conditions for human life in the future will not be possible without using space.”

“Currently, it is not possible to manage, govern and ensure the security of countries without being in space and using satellite sensing on the ground,” the ISA head added.

“Today, the provision of space resources to countries and the competition for superiority in space are no longer exclusive to some developed countries, and all countries now have to use what space has offered in order to build a future for their own,” Salariyeh went on to say.

He continued to praise the recent successful test launch of ‘Saman’ Orbital Transmission System into orbit as a turning point in history of Iranian space activities.

The top Iranian space official also said that “ISA and the Iranian Space Research Center (ISRC)” are established as state institutions in the field of space in the country, adding, “Achieving indigenous space technology is one of the serious missions of these two institutions.”

“Many private institutions and companies have also been established in this field and are serving the country,” he added.

He concluded by pointing out that the research and activities in the field of space have helped other fields of science as well as other industries in the country a lot.
