Ehsan Shokrani, the executive director of the Iranian knowledge-based company described the fodder machine as one of the technological achievements of their firm.

“This machine is able to automatically produce fresh fodder for livestock on a daily basis with a daily capacity of 1 to 10 tons. This capacity can be increased,” the researcher said.

He explained how the fodder machine works, saying, “Dry seeds are put into the machine and the machine automatically provides the best conditions in terms of temperature, light and irrigation for the growth of the seeds at a specific period of time to accelerate the growth of the seeds.”

Shokrani said that seed germination naturally takes between 15 and 20 days, while using the machine it takes about 7 days.

The managing director of the knowledge-based company went on to say that the seeds are placed in the machine in a weekly period of time. “This means that during 7 days, the seeds are placed in the machine and from the seventh day onwards, the seeds can be harvested gradually. When all the product is harvested, a new amount of seeds is placed in the machine. This way, it is possible to harvest from this machine every day.”

“In addition to cultivating fodder seeds, this cultivation room can be used for the producing rice seedlings and even for the production of microgreens (vegetables on a small scale),” Shokrani pointed out.

“Another feature of this machine is that it lays suitable ground for different types of seeds. For instance, wheat produces a lot of heat during germination. For that, the temperature is lowered during wheat germination in this machine,” he concluded.
