According to a report by the Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council (INIC), with the conclusion of a contract between an Iranian technology company and the Municipality of Kapan located in the Southeastern province of Syunik in Armenia, the Iranian company will export biodegradable and antibacterial polyethylene garbage bags to that Armenian city.

Mohammad Ali Valian, managing director of the Iranian technology company based in Aras Industrial Free Trade Zone, said, “To date, we as a plastic manufacturer using nano technology, have successfully exported our products to Germany and Uzbekistan, Turkey, Armenia and Iraq.”

Referring to the presence of the Iranian company in an exhibition in Armenia, Valian said, "The result of our presence in this exhibition was the conclusion of a contract with the municipality of Kapan, in accordance with which we will export biodegradable antibacterial nano garbage bags to that country.. this product is also welcomed in the domestic market."

According to him, these types of bags are currently used in fruit and vegetables markets in Tehran and Mashhad.

“These products have many advantages over common plastics, such as high tensile and physical strength, heat resistance, and biodegradability. Food scraps and other perishables inside the garbage bag are a favorable place for the growth of bacteria that cause contamination. In these bags, antibacterial nanoparticles prevent the growth of microorganisms that cause spoilage and pollution," the managing director of the company pointed out.

"Zinc oxide nanoparticles show strong antibacterial activity against pathogenic bacteria. As a result, the antibacterial bags produced in this company are highly welcome after by hospitals, and a number of clinics and hospitals are currently using these bags," Valian concluded.
