Over 335,000 tons of non-oil goods, valued at $101.747 million, were exported from Iran to Armenia in the first quarter of the current Persian calendar year, showing a 70 and 38.4 percent growth in weight and value respectively compared to last year’s corresponding period, said Spokesman for Iran’s House of Industry, Mine and Trade Rouhollah Latifi.

He added that Iran pursues the policy of development of all-out ties with neighbors with a focus on mutual respect and safeguarding territorial integrity and common interests.

Latifi described Armenia as a gateway of Iran’s entry to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU or EEU) and Eastern Europe, and said Iran imported 1,872 tons of products, valued at more than $7 million, from Eurasia in spring which included minerals, types of filter, craft paper, pasteboards, wood products, medical equipment, electric appliances, ferrous products and spare parts.

The Eurasian Economic Union is an economic union of several post-Soviet states located in Eurasia.

The Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union was signed on 29 May 2014 by the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia, and came into force on 1 January 2015. Treaties aiming for Armenia's and Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union were signed on 9 October and 23 December 2014, respectively.
