The Autodromo Riccardo Paletti motorsport race track near Varano de Melegari in the Province of Parma, Italy hosted Student Formula Car competition between July 12-16, 2023.

A total number of 65 university teams from all over the world took part in the 2023 Italian Student Formula, of which 62 teams were from European countries and 3 teams were from Iran, Indonesia and Egypt.

This competition included four categories of internal combustion cars, electric cars, self-driving cars and automotive design class (concept cars).

“The Raham team from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad competed in the internal combustion vehicle category with 21 other teams, and due to customs problems, the car was held or 10 days at the customs office of "Parma" city, 30 km from the competition venue, and finally on July 12th, it was cleared from customs with difficulty,” Seyed Mohammad Hossein Abrishami, the head of Reham team said in an interview with Iranian media.

“Therefore, the team members started the match from the second day of the match with a tired and disturbed mind,” he continued:

“The structure of the competition included 3 general sections: "Entry Tests", "Static Items" and "Dynamic Items," he said, adding, "Entry Tests include Technical Inspection, Slope, Exhaust Sound Test and Brake Test and all teams were required to pass all four tests to participate in the "Dynamic" data-x-items of this competition.”

“The judges' strictness in these tests was so high that out of 22 teams in the internal combustion category, only 9 teams succeeded in passing all four tests. Raham's team passed all the above four tests in one day and qualified for the dynamic stage, which shows the high quality and accuracy in the design and construction of the car and full compliance with the rules of the competition,” he went on to say.

According to him, the static data-x-items include “engineering design”, “cast report” and “business plan” based on the reports sent by the teams to the jury and face-to-face question and answer with them at the venue.

Abrishami further said that their team rankings in static data-x-items were as follows:

Business Plan item: 12

Engineering design item: 13

Cast report item: 18

In the Dynamic items, he said that the teams had to pass the tests of four items: acceleration, skid pad, autocross, endurance and fuel consumption. These data-x-items were scored based on the team's performance on the track, he added.

Raham's rankings in dynamic data-x-items were as follows:

Acceleration item: 8

Skid pad item: 8

Autocross item: 5

Endurance and fuel consumption item: 5

“In the end, the final rankings of the teams were done according to the points obtained in various static and dynamic items, and Raham's team became 13th in the overall rankings,” Abrishami said.
