South Korea's Industrial Output Rises 1.3 Percent in May
The seasonally-adjusted production index in all industries, which exclude the agriculture, livestock and fishery sector, grew 1.3 percent in May from a month earlier after sliding 1.3 percent in the previous month, according to Statistics Korea.
Production in the mining and manufacturing industry expanded 3.2 percent last month.
Among manufacturers, the ratio of inventory to shipment retreated 6.8 percentage points over the month to 123.3 percent in May.
Production in the services industry fell 0.1 percent in May from the previous month.
The seasonally-adjusted retail sale index, which reflects private consumption, advanced 0.4 percent in May from a month earlier after slumping 2.6 percent in the previous month.
Facility investment gained 3.5 percent, and completed construction grew 0.5 percent last month.
The cyclical variation factor for leading economic indicators, which gauge the outlook for future economic situations, was unchanged at 98.4 in May compared to the prior month.
The reading for coincident economic indicators, which measure the current economic conditions, added 0.1 points to 99.9 last month.
