Iranian Firm Produces Nanostructure-Coated Anode of Metal Oxides for Seawater Electrolysis
‘Atieh Pardazan Zohor Sharif’ company has made the product which is a metal anode whose surface is coated with a 20 nm-thick thin film of metal oxides, suitable for the electrolysis of seawater. As an appropriate alternative to metallic and graphene anodes, it benefits from a low wear rate and high geometrical stability.
Applying a nano-thick coating on the metal anode has resulted in reduced need for expensive catalytic elements and improved electric charge and stability.
In an earlier development, an Iranian knowledge-based company had also designed and developed an electrodialysis system, which is one of the new methods of desalination with low energy consumption and low effluent production compared to previous methods. The system has been able to provide an effective solution for salt water desalination.
The desalination system has advantaged over similar types, including the possibility of desalination of brackish water and seawater with an efficiency rate of 85% to 95%, lower energy consumption compared to other methods, membrane life span of more than 5 years, low operating cost and no need for pre-treatment.
