“Production of microscopic algae is one of the main achievements of this company in the field of biotechnology," Shima Moradi, one of the managers of the knowledge-based company told ANA.
“We succeeded in growing different types of algae in the country's food and pharmaceutical industry," she added.

The director of knowledge-based company stated that algae is mostly used as a food supplement, explaining, “Micronutrients of algae as single-cell organisms are a source of nutritional components, including protein, calcium, vitamin B group, salts and minerals. They play a key role in producing oxygen too. It has an effective role. Researchers found anti-cancer properties in algae, which is considered to be one of the most important properties of these single-cell organisms.”
According to the researchers, by locally producing the algae they saved the country a lot of money by preventing the exit of foreign currency to import them from overseas.
She also noted that they have been able to obtain all the necessary qualifications from Food and Drug Organization for their products.
