Iranian Firm Locally Produces Herbal Beverages from Moringa Oleifera
“Our product is a highly useful herbal tea called Moringa which is extracted from a plant. Moringa is registered as an aromatic medicine for the first time in Iran,” Maryam Makarian, the managing director of a knowledge-based company located in the Science and Technology Park of the Islamic Azad University's Jahrom branch said in an interview with ANA.
She also said Moringa beverage is highly useful in curbing blood pressure, cholesterol and prevents heart attacks by strengthening the body against chronic diseases such as diabetes.
She added that researchers were able to produce different compounds from the plant including Moringa herbal beverage, powder, capsule, oil, etc.
The managing director of the knowledge-based company further warned the plant has many benefits, but if a large amount of it is used it becomes poisonous and may cause disorders in patients.
“Using a certain dose of Moringa can be beneficial for the body. This knowledge-based company has acquired the formula to produce this effective compound,” Makarian said.
“The high antioxidant compound in this plant makes the body resistant against diseases. It also prevents malnutrition and regulates calcium, blood sugar level and blood pressure. Angina, Alzheimer's and rheumatic diseases can also be cured using this plant,” the researcher further noted.
She said that mass production of the herbal beverage and other products from the Moringa has begun in her company, adding that the products are currently exported to Oman, Turkey, Kuwait and Kenya.
“Currently, this knowledge-based company is testing three other drugs produced from Moringa Oleifera plant due to its broad useful properties. Using this plant could improve height in children who are short,” Makarian concluded.
