Opaque, Semi-Gloss Water-Based Acrylic Varnish Made by Iranian Nanotechnology Firm
The first product of ‘FERMA High-tech Engineering Co. Ltd’ company is a water-based varnish that can be applied on the spread paint as a final layer to enhance its lifetime and durability. It is a nanoparticle-added water-based acrylic varnish with less toxicity.
The second product of the company is a water-based acrylic semi-gloss varnish which provides an acceptable resistance to both light and hard weather, rapidly dries, and is less toxic.
The use of nanoparticles in the polymer varnish has led to shorter drying time, better appearance, higher strength to the underlying paint, improved abrasion resistance, enhanced resistance to UV radiation, and prolonged lifetime of the underlying paint.
The acrylic varnish can be applied for traffic marking and building facades.
In a relevant development earlier this year, Iranian scientists at a nanotechnology company succeeded in manufacturing water-based polyurethane resin by using nano materials.
Kimia Resin Behsan Company for the first time in Iran produced water-based polyurethane resin based on nanomaterials. Lack of volatile organic solvents in making the product has made application of the resin on the desired surface much easier in just one step without the need to use different solutions.
Also, the use of nanoparticles in manufacturing the product has made the size of the resin’s particles between 10 to 70 nanometers. The small dimensions of the resin components improve its adhesion and its fuller and better penetration into the desired surfaces, including wood and leather.
The product is 33% solid, which is the highest level of the solid part in resins which provides the possibility of creating an appropriate thickness when applying the resin on different surfaces. However, this amount can be changed based on the user needs.
