Iranian Construction-Material Researchers Produce Lightweight Paste Mortar without Using Water
“This company is the only producer of a type of lightweight paste mortar for building walls in construction projects and different materials for constructing walls such as clay blocks, cement blocks, light blocks AAC or Autoclaves,” Alireza Bohlouli, the managing director of the Iranian knowledge-based company said in an interview with ANA correspondent.
He said that his newly-produced paste mortar is compatible with all kinds of construction materials, adding, “1 to 1.30 kg of this product is used is each square meter, which is equivalent to 35 to 40 kg of traditional mortar, and it reduces weight, removes the need for water during the stiffening phase, and increases labor force efficiency in construction projects.”
“One kilogram of this product is equivalent to 35 kilograms of sand and cement mortar, which reduces transportation by about 30 fold,” he added.
He said that they received an invention certificate for the lightweight mortar in 2016 and two years later, a certificate from Iran’s Urban Development Research Center was issued for thier product.
“This product can be used in major construction projects and inner-city projects. The product's formulation has been changed in several stages so that it can have a favorable performance in different projects,” the researcher added.
He went on to say that the lightweight mortar is much more useful for constructing tall buildings as it saves energy and transportation costs.
“The lightweight mortar is more expensive than traditional mortar, but due to its advantages, including eliminating the need for two to three workers, reducing pollution, and reduction in the need for water, sand, and cement, and the cost of transportation, the constructers will find out that the total expenses of the project will be 10 to 30% lower only due to using our lightweight paste mortar,” he added.
