Mohammadreza Noura, the managing director of “Zamin pajouhan-e Makran” knowledge-based company located in Zahedan, in Southeastern Iran, presented the herbal mulch at the Asr-e Omid exhibition in Sirjan in Kerman province.

He told ANA correspondent on the sidelines of the Sirjan exhibition that their company’s activities have focused on the production of herbal mulch.

“Dust is produced in loose soils with flowing sand, which is the biggest problem in deserts and dry areas, many lands are susceptible to this phenomenon," he said.

“After we conducted a lot of studies in the field of sand stabilization to tackle dust storms, we found that that clay, which is available in many parts of Iran, is useful after processing with special materials, and in this process its natural adhesiveness increased to prevent soil erosion against the wind and the accumulating the sand particles,” Noura said.

“This product is mixed with water and due to the use of sand particles, it can be easily used in the most desert areas and does not require special equipment," he added.

Noura stated that the mass production of the herbal mulch will be highly effective in tackling desertification, adding, “The other feature of this product is that it adopts to the nature as no chemicals are used in it. It is completely natural and is made of mineral material. It becomes smoother and stronger over time. It does not harm the environment.”

Asr-e Omid (Age of Hope) exhibition was held on the campus of Islamic Azad University-Sirjan branch in the city of Sirjan located in the Southeastern Kerman Province on May 22-June 1, 2023.
