Iran's Fajr Jam Gas Refining Company Repairs Electric Turbine by Knowledge-Based Companies' Assistance
“After repairing and replacing the defective parts of the generator and turbine, the installation operation was done well and the generator was tested for 72 hours with an average load of 18 megawatts,” said Mehdi Mousavianfard, the chairman of the repair and maintenance department of Fajr Jam Gas Refining Company.
“These repairs were carried out with the involvement and cooperation of the internal contractor's experts and using the know-how and expertise of the colleagues in the repair department, including experienced forces at mechanical, electrical and precision instrument repairs sections,” he explained more.
“Our co-workers first opened the PMG section of the generator and transferred it outside the refinery to carry out specialized repairs. Next, the rotor of the generator was also removed from the turbine there. After that the necessary preliminary checks were implemented on the rotor and stator,” the refinery repair department head added.
“Next, the hot section of the turbine, which includes burners, combustion chambers, bleed valves, gas manifolds, hot gas conductors, etc., was overhauled,” Mousavianfared detailed more.
“During the checks, it was realized that the moving blades of the first stage of the turbine had been damaged, and in order to find out the reason for the failure of the blades, a number of them were separated. After that a collection of 82 locally-made blades was purchased and handed over to the contractor and they replaced them with the defective blades,” he continued.
He went on to attach a great importance to the role of electricity production in the refinery and the role and importance of this power plant in the refinery's electricity production, concluding, “Fortunately, the power plant is working well today, relying on the Almighty God’s help and the capabilities of internal experts in the plant.”
