Iranian Researchers Produce Automated Soil Wet Detector for Agricultural Use
“Production of devices and systems in this company is based on the needs of research community in the fields of agriculture, irrigation, civil engineering and environment,” Nazila Ghasemifar, managing director of the Iranian knowledge-based company said, according to a report by the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.
she further said that the devices that are produced in her firm are to meet the needs of research and academic centers in the different fields of soil science, water and environment to supply them with some specialized equipment and devices.
She added that automated soil wetness front detector automatically monitors and records the soil’s moisture level at a certain depth during irrigation.
Ghasemifar added that due to the advanced technologies used in these devices and their specialized applications they are produced in limited numbers every year and are handed over to customers.
The managing director of the knowledge-based company further said that the plate processing machines and ceramic plates are two other devices they produce in the company.
“This machine has an American model that is not sold to Iran due to sanctions, Therefore, in the past years, we took action to design and manufacture the prototype of the device. We managed to manufacture it in 2008,” Ghasemifar explained.
Saying that their team of researchers received support from the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology term of provision of services and development of laboratory and research activities, the researcher further said,
“Our main challenge is that the domestic market is filled with similar products. Our products have been used in the country's top universities over the past years. That is why they have been utilized in small and large research centers by professors and students of different levels.”
According to the report, when the needs in the domestic markets in the country are met, there should be practical arrangements for international marketing and the possibility of exporting the knowledge-based products to other countries, which can boost the growth of the knowledge-based economy and create more jobs inside the country.
