Iran Ready to Share Experience with G5 in Health
“If we can define a sustainable cross-border cooperation in the field of health, good things will definitely happen,” said Rouhollah Dehqani-Firouzabadi, the vice president for science and technology.
He made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 26th G5 High-Level Experts Meeting on Health Cooperation and the 1st Healthcare Leadership and Governance Training Program in Tehran earlier this month.
The group of five with a population of 400 million people, with similarities and suitable cultural, social, and demography backgrounds can be a large cross-border group for the development of a healthy economy, he stressed.
“Over the past years and especially in the past two decades, many investments were made in the field of health and medical equipment in Iran which resulted in several thousand active knowledge-based and technological companies in various fields of health.”
Many technologies, including biological technologies, have been well developed in the country, he highlighted.
“Today, this is one of the biggest platforms for the development of technology in the country, especially in the fields of medicine, medical equipment, and services.”
He pointed out that Iran is ready to share its knowledge and technological achievements with the G5 member countries to launch joint projects and make joint investments, which can definitely benefit all members of the group.
Iran initiated the establishment of the G5 in 2005 to promote sub regional cooperation in health among the group of four countries – Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, and Pakistan – plus the World Health Organization as the fifth member of this group to provide technical support in improving this collaboration.
