Iran Inks Health Agreement with SCO Members
“Iran has the strongest health sector in the region which necessitates using the available opportunities to strengthen health diplomacy. In line with the same diplomacy, the Group 5 meeting was held in Tehran in the presence of the health ministers of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO),” Einollahi said.
“During the recent visit by Iranian President (Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi) to attend the Shanghai summit, a health agreement was signed by the members and it was decided that the SCO member states would cooperate with each other in the health sector. We will soon invite the SCO members to Iran to strengthen cooperation in areas related to health,” he added.
Einollahi said that given the superior position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of health, cooperation with the SCO in this field will turn into one of the country’s most successful regional interactions.
He underscored that cooperation in the health sector can be extended beyond geographical borders, adding, “We are trying not to let the border lines to restrict expansion of mutual cooperation between Iran and the regional states in healthcare arena, in the meantime, we are resolved to hold more scientific conferences, exchanging professors and students, and conducting joint research jointly with the neighboring nations.”
Iran was announced as the official member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the 22nd summit of the SCO member states.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was established in Shanghai on June 15, 2001, by Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
