Iran’s Science Minister Declares Formation of 2 New Scientific Federations
In an exclusive interview with ANA, Zolfigol declared plans to form two scientific federations under the titles of ‘Technology and Innovation Federation’ and ‘Scientific Diplomacy, Technology and Innovation Federation’ with the cooperation of the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology.
At present, the ‘Scientific Elites Federation’ is working with the aim of identifying and selecting reliable, committed and pioneering researchers under the title of scientific elites and supporting them, and each year 100 individuals are identified as scientific elites and are supported in two groups of A and B based on to their scientific level.
“The Scientific Elites Federation mostly focuses on theorizing and basic sciences while the Federation of Technology and Innovation deals more with the issue of generating wealth from knowledge, and the Federation of Scientific Diplomacy, Technology and Innovation finds and supports individuals who are involved in selling commercial products, registering patents with international participation, and registering articles at the international level,” Zolfigol said.
Asked by ANA’s reporter about the Science Ministry’s plans to develop cooperation with foreign states in the scientific fields and the role of elites in this area, he said that a new evaluation and motivation system is being designed; for instance, the scientific elites who have conducted scientific work with the international participation are encouraged, meaning that those who help the expansion of the boundaries of knowledge are highlighted.
Recent surveys have shown that specialized federations play a positive role in organizing the scientific movement of the country and solving the challenges facing the elites. Recently, the fifth meeting of the country's scientific elites was held in the presence of the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, in which the scientific elites were honored.
