Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Produces Dental CNC Milling Machine
CNC machines are electro-mechanical devices that manipulate machine shop tools using computer programming inputs. The name “CNC” actually stands for Computer Numerical Control. Overall, CNC milling is a way of making precise and complex shapes from solid materials using computer-controlled machines and cutting tools.
Mehdi Mehdipour-Aghabagher, the managing director of the Iranian knowledge-based company pointed to the high role and importance of precision milling machines in industries, saying, “CNC design and manufacturing machines are among the complex, mother and vital devices in most industries and there is almost no industry that does not need these machines at some stage of the work; therefore, we tried to expand our activities in this sector and produce Iranian-made knowledge-based products.”
According to the website of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, he stated that many molds and industrial parts or models that are needed in different industries are first designed in 3D form in the software and then produced by CNC machine.
“In this knowledge-based company, we have produced different kinds of CNC machines needed in the country. One of the products of this company is CNC machine, which are needed in academic places,” Mehdipour further asserted.
“Our products have so far been offered to several universities in the country, including Isfahan University of Technology, Iran University of Science and Technology, and Tarbiat Modares University. Young engineers in those universities can learn the techniques of working with these knowledge-based products in accordance with international standards and after they graduate, they can use the skills they learn in industrial units," the researcher said.
The managing director of the knowledge-based company emphasized that in addition to the CNC machine, the company has also produced software and electronic controller accessories related to it, adding, “The industrial machines produced in this company are also small and medium-sized and are used to produce different types of industrial molds, models, works of art, engraving and precise and complicated piece-making.”
Saying that another use of the company's CNC machine is in the field of dentistry, he explained, “In dentistry, to produce dental crowns or implants, a dental CNC milling machine is needed, which must have the mechanical software capability of this complicated work.”
Currently the imported CNC machine are available for sale in Iran’s markets at a price of between 2.5 and 3 billion tomans, while the knowledge-based company has announced its readiness to locally produce the product at a much lower price and with excellent efficiency.
