South Korea's Employment Grows 411,000 on-year in January
TEHRAN (ANA)- The number of employed people in South Korea grew 411,000 in January from a year earlier, statistical office data showed.
The year-over-year employment growth has been on the decline for the eighth straight month, sliding from 935,000 in May last year to 826,000 in July, 707,000 in September, 626,000 in November and 509,000 in December each.
The January figure was the lowest increase in 22 months since March 2021, according to Statistics Korea.
Employment rate for those aged 15 or higher rose 0.7 percentage points over the year to 60.3 percent last month.
The number of those unemployed was 1,024,000 in January, down 119,000 from a year earlier. Jobless rate slipped 0.5 percentage points to 3.6 percent.
