United States' Inflation Hits 6.4 Percent
TEHRAN (ANA)- The US consumer prices index rose by 6.4 percent in the past 12 months through January, higher than expected, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.
In January alone, prices rose by 0.5 percent.
Meanwhile, the so-called "core inflation," which excludes energy and food prices, saw a 0.4 percent rise month-to-month and 5.6 percent increase from the same period last year.
The US Federal Reserve has been engaged in an aggressive rate hike cycle to tamp down the worst inflation in decades.
