Iranian Knowledge-Based Company Localizes Technology of Manufacturing Bioprinters

"The knowledge-based "Asia Setareh Bartar Nufanavaran (SOBA) Company, which is located in the Science and Technology Park of Semnan province, has produced bioprinters by using two injection systems, which can simultaneously print two materials," Amir Mahdavi, the managing director of SOBA said.  

"Bioprinting technology requires three main parts: bioprinter, bioink and biopaper," Mahdavi added.

"Nearly 200 companies worldwide, many of them in developing countries, have acquired the technology of making bioprinters," he went on to say.

Mahdavi further pointed to the use of bioprinters in medicine, saying, "The bioprinters can be utilized in making living tissues of the human body, such as skin tissue, bones, and cartilage. The tissue produced with bioprinters are transplantable to humans to be replaced with damaged body tissues."
