Iran, Belarus Stress Bolstering Energy Ties
Iranian Deputy Science Minister for International Affairs Vahid Haddadi Asl and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Iran Dmitry Koltsov in the meeting discussed ways to expand technological cooperation in the field of water management.
The two sides also emphasized the need to deepen ties in the oil and gas sector.
Haddadi Asl, for his part, underlined Iran’s achievements in science and technology, saying that the country currently ranks 15th in the world in terms of scientific progress.
“We are seeking to broaden relations with friendly states, specially the neighboring countries,” he added.
“Iran, as a country rich in oil and gas resources, seeks to modernize the industries related to this field and use the latest technologies in the oil and petrochemical industries. Belarus also enjoys scientific capabilities and appropriate experiences in this field, and scientific cooperation in this area is possible,” the official said.
Haddadi Asl also noted that Iran is located in a semi- arid climate, saying that the country is willing to benefit from the experiences of Belarus in water management.
During the meeting, Koltsov welcomed Haddadi Asl's proposal for cooperation in the fields of oil and gas and water resources management, and said, "We put cooperation in these areas on the agenda of the two countries’ joint cooperation committee."
“Belarus is aware of Iran's scientific progress and is interested in cooperation in this field,” he added.
In relevant remarks last November, Iranian Vice-President Mohammad Mokhber said that Tehran and Minsk are drawing up a roadmap to develop economic and commercial ties.
He made the remarks after a meeting with Belarussian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko in Tehran.
“The will of the two countries is developing economic ties in different areas, and one of the issues that were decided in this meeting was to activate the private sector of the two countries by the houses of the chamber of Iran and Belarus,” Mokhber said.
“Today it was agreed that foreign ministers of Iran and Belarus and heads of joint commissions follow these issues seriously,” he added.
