The EABC and ACCI partnership will champion the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) implementation by collaborating and linking businesses to access export and import, and investment opportunities, said the statement, the EABC said in a statement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Al-Mujtaba Abubakar, the ACCI president and chief executive officer, said that "the partnership will boost commercial information exchange, customer due diligence information and offers a platform for alternative dispute resolution on trade matters".

John Bosco Kalisa, the EABC chief executive officer, said intra-African trade is currently low at 14.4 percent of total African exports.

He said the AfCFTA is set to boost intra-African trade by about 33 percent.

Kalisa said in 2021, the East African Community bloc goods export to the Economic Community of West African States reached 91 million US dollars while imports were 256 million US dollars.
