Four new technology-based products unveiled for health and obesity treatment
The 11th International Exhibition of Pharmaceuticals and Related Industries, known as Iran Pharma, is being held from September 23 to 25, 2026, at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla in Tehran. The event brings together pharmaceutical manufacturers, companies active in related industries and other players across the pharmaceutical supply chain.
The exhibition is being held as Iran's pharmaceutical industry seeks to expand domestic production and develop new technologies while facing challenges related to financing, foreign currency, raw materials and pricing.
This year's exhibition has attracted applications from 681 domestic and 301 foreign pharmaceutical companies. Thirty specialized panels have also been scheduled, focusing on issues such as export policy and the future of the pharmaceutical industry.
Beyond showcasing products
Pharmaceutical exhibitions are not limited to product displays. The industry's supply chain covers research and development, active pharmaceutical ingredients, manufacturing, quality control, distribution and retail.
Bringing pharmaceutical manufacturers together with suppliers of raw materials, equipment, technologies and specialized services provides a broader picture of the country's pharmaceutical ecosystem. In recent years, domestic companies have sought to increase their contribution to meeting the country's pharmaceutical needs.
However, higher domestic production does not eliminate the need for international supply chains. Some raw materials, excipients, equipment and production technologies are still sourced from international markets.
Iran Pharma therefore provides an opportunity for domestic manufacturers to showcase their capabilities and establish contacts with foreign companies.
Technology in pharmaceutical development
The pharmaceutical industry has increasingly moved toward advanced technologies, including biologic and recombinant medicines, novel drug-delivery systems and nanotechnology-based products.
Knowledge-based companies can play a role in translating academic research into commercial products, particularly in areas that require specialized expertise, advanced equipment and long-term investment.
Nanotechnology has also become part of pharmaceutical and supplement development. Nano-based delivery systems can be designed to improve the absorption or stability of active compounds and, in some cases, enable more targeted delivery.
However, the clinical efficacy of individual products must be assessed based on scientific evidence and relevant regulatory approvals. The use of a specific technology alone does not establish clinical superiority.
Raw materials remain a key challenge
The supply of raw materials remains one of the pharmaceutical industry's persistent challenges. Industry representatives have recently raised concerns about access to some raw materials, particularly from India, and have called for greater direct transportation capacity.
The issue highlights the broader role of supply-chain security in pharmaceutical production. Stable access to raw materials, financing, foreign currency, equipment and production infrastructure is essential for maintaining production capacity.
Supporting the next generation of pharmacists
This year's Iran Pharma program also includes a student Olympiad and activities aimed at connecting young pharmacists with experienced professionals. The Pharma Talk program is designed to encourage dialogue between early-career and veteran pharmacists.
The initiative reflects the industry's need for a skilled workforce that can combine pharmaceutical expertise with emerging technologies, production economics and market requirements.
Four technology-based products unveiled
Four knowledge-based products have been introduced at the exhibition: the oral Neurozome supplement, based on nano-sucroliposomal technology; the specialized supplements Uni Zinc Plus and Acti Collagen; and the injectable drug Lingo-War, containing tirzepatide.
The products are part of a broader trend toward developing specialized pharmaceutical and nutritional products with improved formulations and delivery systems.
According to the companies, their development has focused on areas such as improving the absorption of active compounds, enhancing ingredient stability and optimizing delivery.
The four products are being introduced by three companies affiliated with the industrial group at Iran Pharma on Thursday, September 24.
