Iranian Knowledge-Based Companies Experience Fivefold Rise in Revenues
Over the past couple of years, one thousand companies have been added to the knowledge-based companies on average per year, said an official with the Innovation and Prosperity Fund.
Moreover, knowledge-based companies have increased revenues by fivefold from about 400 trillion rials (some $1.15 billion) to 1,980 trillion rials (some $5.65 billion) since 2017, Mostafa Arab told reporters.
He pointed out that preparing analytical reports can greatly help the decision-makers and promote the position of the knowledge-based economy in the country.
“To this end, we created a comprehensive database system,” he said, adding, “We put the preparation of reports related to knowledge-based companies on the agenda and analyzed the ecosystem of knowledge-based companies.”
According to the reports, the technological ecosystem of the country has been developing rapidly since 2011, Arab highlighted.
For instance, half of the knowledge-based companies have been established after 2013.
In recent years, the number of knowledge-based companies has increased from about 1,500 to about 7,500, the official noted.

Arab went on to say that women account for 22 percent of board members and 12 percent of CEOs of knowledge-based companies.
Statistics say that about 275,000 people were working in knowledge-based companies in March 2022, showing a growth of 20 percent compared to March 2020.
Over the past year, in order to realize a resilient and knowledge-based economy, the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology has implemented a series of activities to further develop the ecosystem of innovation and technology in the country.
