Iran: Trump’s ‘Piracy’ Remark Is Admission of Criminal Naval Blockade

(Tehran Ana)- Iran’s Foreign Ministry said US President Donald Trump’s remarks about acting “like pirates” amount to a direct admission of the illegal nature of Washington’s naval blockade against Iranian vessels.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said in a post on X on Sunday that Trump had openly described the unlawful seizure of Iranian ships as “piracy,” calling it a clear acknowledgment of criminal actions against international maritime navigation.

He stressed that the statement was not a slip of the tongue but a “damning admission” of wrongdoing, urging the international community, UN member states, and the UN secretary-general to reject any normalization of such violations of international law.

Baghaei’s remarks came after Trump ordered a naval blockade on April 13 following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire in attacks against Iran, later extending the blockade after the truce expired.
