In a phone conversation held on Sunday, President Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Sharif discussed the latest regional situation, ongoing Iran-US diplomatic efforts, and issues related to the ceasefire.

Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s diplomatic role, thanking both Sharif and the country’s military leadership for their efforts to support peace initiatives and reduce tensions in the region.

Addressing recent ceasefire developments, the Iranian president criticized what he described as continued violations and coercive conduct by the United States during both negotiations and the implementation of the truce. He argued that Washington’s reported maritime restrictions on Iran breach ceasefire understandings and contradict principles of the UN Charter.

Pezeshkian added that such measures, along with what he called threatening rhetoric, have raised doubts about the US commitment to diplomacy. He reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to defend its national security, warning that any renewed confrontation involving the United States and Israel could have serious consequences for regional and global stability.

The president also underscored Iran’s intention to strengthen ties with neighboring countries, particularly those along the Persian Gulf, based on mutual respect and good neighborly relations. He expressed hope for greater regional cooperation to promote peace without external interference.

For his part, Prime Minister Sharif briefed Pezeshkian on Pakistan’s recent diplomatic contacts with regional countries, reiterating Islamabad’s commitment to facilitating dialogue, easing tensions, and supporting efforts to end hostilities.
