Iran’s response to aggressors will continue until they genuinely repent: Parliament speaker
Ghalibaf discussed Iran's positions in the US-Israeli imposed war on the country in an interview with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed (New Arab) on Monday night, saying the Islamic Republic was well aware of the intention of the enemies based on its previous experiences.
Responding to a question about a potential ceasefire, he said such a scenario is not possible as long as the enemy threats remain, and appropriate political and security conditions in the world and the region are not created.
We have prepared ourselves for a long-term war given our past experiences, he said, adding that no one believes in the US claim of eliminating Iran's military capabilities as the country, relying on its homegrown technology, has sufficient missile and drone reserves.
Stating that the Americans utilized the land and capital of the Persian Gulf Arab countries to establish military bases under the pretext of ensuring their security, but the US itself made these nations unsecured by launching attacks from these bases.
The top parliamentarian, emphasizing that Iran believes more than ever in strengthening ties with its neighbors, stated that the country was compelled to defend itself with counter-attacks on US bases and facilities located in the Persian Gulf region.
Ghalibaf said Iran had never expected its southern neighbors' soil to be used for aggression, echoing the words of the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution that they provided bases to America to ensure their security, but these very bases became a source of insecurity for them.
However, he expressed Iran's readiness for sustainable security agreements with regional countries, saying the US-Israeli war will change the existing geopolitical condition and that the region needs to establish lasting security without the outside interference.
He noted that the US stance reflects the reality of its view of these countries and the war on Iran once again proved the Persian Gulf Arab states hold no significance for America.
Ghalibaf once again underlined the firmness and steadfastness of the Iranian nation under Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, saying the people stand united for the dignity, independence, and integrity of Iran.
Iran is not Syria, where its leader would leave and depart from the country, nor is it Venezuela, that would submit to brute force, he added.
