US, Israel seek to weaken major Islamic countries: President Pezeshkian
During a phone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Friday, Pezeshkian discussed regional developments following what he described as U.S. and Israeli military aggression against Iran.
He said Iran had been engaged in negotiations when the attacks occurred, arguing that the incidents showed Washington was not genuinely seeking a diplomatic resolution. Pezeshkian added that Iran has no dispute with Islamic nations, which he described as brothers, but stressed that Tehran would exercise its right to self-defense if attacked.
The Iranian president also urged Islamic countries to remain vigilant against efforts to create divisions in the Muslim world and welcomed initiatives aimed at strengthening unity and stability.
He further noted that millions of Iranians participated in nationwide rallies on International Quds Day despite threats and military attacks, demonstrating support for Iran and the Palestinian cause.
In response, el-Sisi expressed condolences over Iranian casualties and reiterated Egypt’s opposition to war and instability, emphasizing the need to resolve disputes through diplomacy and urging restraint to protect regional and global stability.
